in Aktualno

Oba dogodka bosta del tridnevne mednarodne kulturne prireditve Noči v stari Ljubljani. Koncert bo omogočil neposredno seznanjanje z glasbo in protesti v različnih delih obeh Amerik, Azije in Evrope. Prof. dr. The Cultural and Ethnomusicological Society Folk Slovenia, the foundation Imago Sloveniae / Podoba Slovenije, the Department of Musicology of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana, the Ethnomusicological Institute SRC SASA, and Radio Slovenia are joining forces in organizing a symposium and a concert focused on Music and Protest in Various Parts of the World. The programs are taking place on 22 August 2013; the symposium during the daytime in the City Museum in Ljubljana, Gosposka 15, and the concert in the evening at one of the major open-air stages (Breg ob Ljubljanici), in case of bad weather in the Kavarna Union, Miklošičeva 1. Both programs are encompassed by the international cultural event Nights in Ljubljana Old Town. "Protest" is understood in its widest sense. The focus is on musical expressions of human desire for social changes in various spatial and temporal contexts. Both the papers and musical performances pay attention to the repertories calling for revolutionary changes as well as to those that are against armed conflicts, to the songs calling for social, economic, racial, ethnic, religious, gender and other equalities, songs that accompany uprisings of certain social classes and more. The symposium is expected to provide a theoretical framework based on various disciplinary angles, insights into relevant publications and case studies, and first-hand experiences of the presenters. The concert will provide valuable acquaintance with music and protest in various parts of the Americas, Asia and Europe. This is the regular annual concert of the Cultural and Ethno-musicological Society Folk Slovenia, which, in addition to the members of the Society features several invited guests with musical repertoires linked to various protests.
